Notably, senior pacer Mohammed Shami has been excluded from the squad due to injury concerns. Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar emphasized the importance of preserving Jasprit Bumrah's fitness, leading to the decision not to burden him with captaincy responsibilities.

The selection marks the beginning of a new World Test Championship cycle for India, with the team aiming to build a balanced and competitive side capable of succeeding in English conditions.

The first Test of the series is scheduled to commence on June 20, 2025. The series will be played across five venues: Leeds, Edgbaston, Lord's, Manchester, and The Oval, concluding on July 31, 2025.

This series represents a significant opportunity for the new leadership and emerging talents to establish themselves on the international stage and set the tone for India's future in Test cricket.
